Please begin collecting articles and pictures for our political science unit and constitution study in March and April. Team bucks will be given for extra articles collected. You will need the following:

IMPORTANT
SUMMARY GUIDELINES
FOR THE
CONSTITUTION NOTEBOOK STUDY
These specific guidelines must be followed in order to
receive full credit. All papers must
have a complete heading in the top right corner—full name, date, assignment
(Const. Study Article summary), and class period.
(1)
Select one of the required or optional articles
needed for the assignment and carefully cut out an article from the newspaper
(or magazine) or print out a reliable Internet article. It must be at least 5 paragraphs in length
and be meaningful to you. Be sure to cut out the ENTIRE article (some go to
another page and must be included in the summary).

Read the entire article and highlight the important
information. This needs to be highlighted with a highlighter pen (yellow
is preferred). Discuss it with someone.
(3)
Your summary needs to be in paragraph form and in your own words. It needs to be in a standard, typed, 12pt
font or in ink. Please use ½ to 1
inches top, bottom and side margins.
(4)
Your written summary must include:
1st paragraph (min. of 3-5 sentences)—answer WHERE you found the article, WHO wrote the article, WHEN (date and name of the paper,
internet site, or periodical and discuss WHY
you chose the article, and HOW it
relates to your topic or everyday life
2nd paragraph (3-4 sentences) a brief summary
of WHAT the article is about, in your own words
3rd paragraph (3-4
sentences)—your OPINION about the
article. Please include some reflection
on what you have learned from reading it, how you feel about the issue and how it
affects your life.
(5) Place the typed article summary on TOP
with the highlighted article stapled to the back.
Summary deadlines:
1st summary due: Wednesday, March 5th
2nd summary due: Friday, March 21st
3rd summary due: Wednesday, March 26th
4th summary due: Monday, March 31st
5th summary due: Tuesday, April 8th
