How do I fulfill my roles and responsibilities as a general education teacher in the implementation of IEPs?
| Ask the special education case manager assigned to you for copies of your students' IEPs. | |
| Review your class structure, lesson plan format, typical assignments and grading policy. | |
| Collaborate with the special education case manager to clarify accommodations / modifications, goals / objectives, curriculum and IEP implementation issues. |

| Know and understand the content of the IEP’s for students in your classroom. | |||
| Fully implement any and all activities assigned to you within the IEPs including but not limited to: grading, testing, behavior plans, accommodations / modifications etc. | |||
| Regularly monitor the progress of each student toward IEP goals and objectives and district and state standards, as well as progress made within the general education curriculum with full IEP implementation. | |||
| Provide appropriate documentation of student's progress for quarterly progress reports and annual IEP meetings. |
How do I fulfill my responsibilities as a special education teacher?
| Remain current on special education policies and procedures outlined in the ASD Special Education handbook. | |
| Always think as an advocate for your special education students. | |
| Collaborate, communicate and facilitate least restrictive environment practices for all your students. | |
| Collect data on an on-going basis, communicate results with relevant general education teachers and provide recommendations and support to facilitate continued / improved progress towards IEP goals within the least restrictive environment. |
