Participation

Student Participation

All students enrolled more than .25FTE are required to participate in statewide assessment. Students enrolled .25 or less are not required to participate.

Even those who are out of school due to illness are required to test
Sometimes testing can be completed during make-up days
 
If they don’t test, it counts against participation rates for AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress)
Check with office administrative assistant to make sure part-time students are correctly reported in the SMS (Student Management System) within the VAX  

Suspended Students

Students on suspension are required to test unless it is a safety issue Decisions made through school principal
  Sometimes testing can be completed during make-up days


All Students enrolled on the first day of testing (April 3, 2007) must participate in statewide assessment

Students who enroll late in the school year and are not in continuous enrollment in your school since October The student’s participation counts for AYP
  His/her proficiency score does not count for AYP at the school level but does count at the district or state level if the student has been enrolled in the district or state since October.
Students in continuous enrollment who don’t participate count against the school and district participation rates for AYP  

 

Participation Guidelines

The Participation Guidelines provides Alaska regulations related to the participation of students with disabilities and students with limited English proficiency in state assessments. The color of the cover changes frequently. Make sure the version you are using is PUMPKIN or has "September 2007 " on the cover.
