Let students strengths, not struggles, determine the outcome of their workGraphomotor skillsare necessary for coordinating or controlling the muscles in ones hands or fingers. Students with difficulty in this area may find it extremely tiring to write for any length of time. When they do, they may opt to not demonstrate all of the knowledge or ideas they have to avoid this laborious process. Their writing may not appear uniform in appearance, size, or pressure, making it difficult to read. Some students may also be reluctant to share what they can write if they are not proud of their handwriting and the neatness or clarity of the paper. For more information on graphomotor skills, contact the Occupational Therapist within your school or community, or visit the website for The American Occupational Therapy Association. |
