Let students’ strengths, not struggles, determine the outcome of their work

Language development is imperative

if students are to clearly understand others, express themselves, and develop strong reading and writing skills. There are several areas within language development including, but not limited to: vocabulary, grammar, semantics, word retrieval, and word order. Using visual stimuli and sequencing ideas may help students experiencing difficulty in this area. Additionally, multimedia can be used to assist with linking words to pictures to help students integrate and organize information.

For more information on language development, contact the Speech/Language specialist within your school or community, or visit the website for The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
