My parents are both from Oklahoma.  My father was a medical doctor specializing in public health administration (he is now retired and gardening).  My mother was a medical technician (she is now retired and volunteers at a cat shelter).  While my father was getting his Masters in Public Health Adminstration, they lived in California where both my sister and I were born.  Following the completion of my father's degree, our family moved back to Oklahoma to live in the city of Tulsa.  I attended public school in Tulsa through the 12th grade.

Following my graduation, I moved (for at least the fall/winter/spring) to Stillwater, OK to attend Oklahoma State University.  While there, I got a Bachleors in Science in Chemical Engineering.  I also was a pre-med major so that I could take lots of biology classes (since I love biology).

After wrapping up my schooling, I was offered a job working as a reservoir engineer for ARCO Alaska, Inc.  I worked as both a reservoir engineer and a drillsite/surveillence engineer until ARCO was sold to BP who promptly sold ARCO Alaska to Phillips.  I worked for Phillips as a Sr. Reservoir Engineer until it merged with Conoco.  At that time, I was ready for a change.  So, I decided to become a teacher since I like working with youth and sharing my love of science.

Besides loving all branches of science (from chemistry to biology to astronomy to geology to forensic science), I also enjoy working with our schools robotics teams.  Outside of school I enjoy traveling across the US and abroad, painting, photography (all the photos on my webpages are taken by me), needlework, poetry writing, doing things at my church, playing cards with friends, playing with my cats (pictures are below), and napping   My current favorite TV shows are Hawaii 5-0 (both old and new shows), Psych, Project Runway, NCIS, Modern Family, The Middle, Big Bang Theory, River Monsters, Dog Whisperer, and Nova (and related science shows).
