Internet Use at Goldenview
ü Students at Goldenview
are able to access the Internet through
their own personal accounts. Each
student can log on to the computer using
their last name .
first name, and then typing in
their password. If students wish to
use email at school they must have a
gaggle.net account (see Mr. Holleman,
Ms. Willems, or Ms. Roohi to register for
one). No chatting, instant messaging,
game playing, or social networking websites
are allowed in the library.
ü Although researching on
the Internet is a very popular way to find
materials for student's school projects, it
is usually not the best way to find
materials. Students should start their
research with a
database (click on the
Databases button
to the left to access ours). However, if the Internet
is going to be used, students should know
what to look for when searching on the
Internet. Sites should be evaluated
for accuracy, authority, currency and ease
of use.
UC Berkeley has a very useful site
to help evaluate web sites.
ü
An easy way to search the
Internet and know you're getting good
information is to use
Nettrekker. Come visit the library
to get the username and password.

ü Students and parents also
need to know the dangers of Internet
predators, bullies, and viruses. Check
out these websites for further information:
