Generally, applicants must be between the ages of 15 and 18, maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA for a year or semester program or 2.0 GPA for a summer program, and be in good health. For most YFU countries, you don't need to know the language, although some countries do require previous language study. Students with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Many scholarships are designated for specific countries. Others allow you to list several country choices. Students may be eligible to apply for more than one scholarship program. Applicants need to complete only one application for multiple scholarships. In addition, certain scholarships are partial awards and do not cover the entire program tuition. In the case of a partial award, the student's family is responsible for the remaining amount of the tuition. Check the individual Scholarship Information Sheets to determine if the scholarship is partial and, if so, the amount of the award. Many of the scholarships have an application fee. Only one application fee is required, if you are applying for multiple scholarships. If you are applying to the regular program, you must submit the application with the $75 non-refundable application fee and the $500 enrollment deposit. If you are applying to the regular program and a scholarship program , you must submit the $75 non-refundable application fee, the $500 enrollment deposit, and the appropriate non-refundable scholarship application fee listed in the Scholarship Information Sheet.
