1/03 - Set-Up and Log into Gaggle – Save your password! (10 Points)
1/03 – Send Mr. Thompson and Introduction Letter about yourself. Send it to Thompson_steve@asdk12.org. Tell Mr. T. about you knowledge and skills using computer and what you hope to learn from this class. (10 Points)

1/04 – Take a five minute typing test using “Typing Master.” Show Mr. T. your current typing speed. (10 Points)

1/06 – The “All About Me” Power Point. Make a power point which has a minimum of six slides and a maximum of 10. These slides should include graphics, words, motion, and may include sound. You will be required to present your slideshow, or if you prefer, you may narrate your slides by recording over your presentation. When finished, please drag your presentation into our folder at: \\Gv-fileshare\students\BusinessEd2012 (40 Points – 10 of these are for the presentation)

1/18 - 1/19 – Write a Business Letter. This letter should be in proper business form. Pick a business that has a product that you like. Explain why you are writing them and how you enjoy or use their product. See Example here! This letter should be proofread by Mr. Thompson and all changes should be made prior to it being mailed. (20 Points)

1/27 – Make a basic website using a program called Webs. Go to: http://www.webs.com/. Here you will need to sign up for an account. Make sure that you write down or e-mail yourself the name of your website, log-in information, and your password. This site is in cyberspace and can be seen by millions. You do have the option to limit who can see it, and I recommend that you do this! Do not share any personal information like address, phone number, etc. Create a theme website about a subject you choose. This can be used for another class’ assignment. Example, last year someone made a website on the planets which they turned in for their science class. You should have at least five pages. You may incorporate sound, photos, and links to other pages that you like. To get your points, you must copy your ULR address in the Business Education Folder in the document labeled “My Webs Webpage” at: \\Gv-fileshare\students\BusinessEd2012 (30 Points)

2/10 – Make a picture movie. Your movie must be have a theme and be a minimum of one minute and a maximum of two. Your video should include captions, titles, and an ending. The video should include music or sound, and show a basic level of competency in using Microsoft Movie Maker. Go to \\Gv-fileshare\students\AAAAA BE\Graded Videos to see some examples from last year. These can only be accessed from school as these are on Gv-Fileshare. When your movie is finished it should be dragged into our folder: \\Gv-fileshare\students\BusinessEd2012 Make sure you have properly finished the movie before dragging it into the fileshare. (30 Points)

2/21 - Do an article review. Learning requires reading and synthesizing information. Go to: http://gvnet/Computer/Computer_Classes/Current_Events/current_events2.htm
for the details of this assignment. Pick an article from http://www.msnbc.msn.com/. No sports articles please. Read the article and follow the format to receive your credit. Either send it to Thompson_steve@asdk12.org or drag it into our folder at \\Gv-fileshare\students\BusinessEd2012 See my example here! (20 Points)
3/02 – “All About Me” Word Website. Go to: http://gvnet/Computer/Computer_Classes/Web_Page/make_a_web2.htm This GVNET directions can only be accessed from a school computer. Go to: http://gvnet/Computer/Student_pages/index.htm for examples of student websites for examples. You will need to follow the directions to make a website with a minimum of five (5) pages. There should be an “index” page and four additional pages that are hyperlinked. When you are finished, you should drag a copy of your entire web folder into our folder at: \\Gv-fileshare\students\BusinessEd2012 By the way, this page and all of the links were made using Word. (40 Points)


3/08 – Part of your time in class should be spent on improving your typing through “Typing Master.” Your ultimate goal should be to type at 50 wpm at 90% accuracy. Once you reach this goal and can prove it to me, I will leave you alone. To reach this goal, you should be practicing all semester. You need to dedicated at least 45 minutes a week (one class period or you can break it up into three 15 minute sessions). You should have 360 minutes logged (8 weeks times 45 minutes) by Thursday, March 8. Remember, if you can prove you can type at 50 wpm with 90% accuracy, the time goal will be waived! (75 points)
