Can Parents Find your Class in myASD?

Parent Use of myASD

Many parents create and use a page in myASD to track their students' classes. At its simplest, it can give a very convenient page listing all of the classes with direct links to the teachers' pages where links take the parents to the grade reports.

Two steps must be completed before the classes are available to parents.

Check to see whether you are set up already

Look for a list of your classes - if they are there, the first step is done.

Homework module?

Does the Homework link show up? If so, the second step is done and parents can already add your classes.
Otherwise, continue on...

Make sure that your classes are listed

Enter District Connection (where you record attendance) and choose the Site Builder application. Some teachers enter a different class for every period, but I would recommend that when you start, you just enter each subject that you teach, without splitting them up by period.

1) On the left had side, choose Class Schedule
2) Add Class Title
3) Enter a class description. This can be short, but it is necessary to include something. You can also copy/paste into this section from another document.
4) Click Add Schedule Item. Wait and check for a confirmation message at the top of the screen.

There will be a link to add more classes if you wish.

Add the Homework Template

On the right side of the screen is a list of the Templates that you have available. Parents will not be able to see your classes unless the Homework template is added to your site.
In this example, the template is added (it is showing in the 'Remove Templates' portion.

If it is still in the 'Add Templates' portion, click on it once and it will be moved to the lower section automatically. That is all that needs to be done.

Close up (and consider making your own myASD page)

You are done with this task and can close Site Builder

You might consider posting homework and/or using the Calendar Template, but neither are required for parents to see your page.
