How to Use the Group Folders
Many teachers have a folder listed in a shared Groups Folder that allows convenient electronic transfer of files.
Access to the folders:
- From a Dell, open My Computer / Groups on ‘sofs02’ / Class_Folders
- From a Mac, when you log in, the Groups icon should show up on your desktop.
- Open it and select Class_Folders.
Access a file in a teacher's folder
- Double-click on the file. This will launch the appropriate application and open it as a 'read-only file.' You cannot save the file back into the teacher's folder, but if you select Save As, you can save it in your folder.
- You can also drag the file from its location to your desktop or documents folder.
Access to Group Folders from home
- The Group Folders are not accessible from outside the ASD firewall. You cannot access them from home.
To Turn in a File
- Make sure that the file that you wish to turn in has your name in the filename.
- Make sure that two windows are open: your own documents folder and the teacher's group folder
- Drag the file from your folder to the Hand In folder. In Windows, you will see a little + next to the icon, meaning that you are making a copy of the file. When you let go, you will get a warning that you won't be able to see the copy; click OK.
- You are done.
