Scan to your e-mail from the Konica Copier
It is possible to scan anything that you can put in the copier to files that are sent to your e-mail. The format can be either pdf (Adobe Acrobat) or tiff (picture file). The tiff files can be run through OCR (Optical Character Recognition software) to convert to word processing files. The accuracy of this conversion is not guaranteed. :)
If the copier has not been set up for this option, talk to your tech coordinator or other person who might be in position to do this.
To save an e-mail address in the copier: (needs to be done once)
- Press the button on the main copier panel to select Scan/Server
- Tap the Network icon on the touchscreen (tap sharply enough to make sure that it is selected)
- Tap Address Manual Input
- Enter a name on the letter pad that will be the name listed in the menu.
- Enter the e-mail address below it. Use the letters in the letter pad, use the digits in the main keyboard.
- Tap Entry to save the address.
- Tap Cancel to exit or OK to continue
- To Delete a name, you need to talk to someone who has the master password...
To actually scan:
- Press the button on the copier panel to select Scan/Server
- Tap Network
- Select the e-mail address (or enter a new one – you do not have to save it)
- Tap OK to continue.
- Change whatever selections that you want (.pdf, .tif, etc.) (higher than 200 dpi will lead to rather large files!)
- Duplex (as opposed to Simplex) will change it to 2-sided. Both sides will be scanned
- Scan your job. Multiple pages in the feeder tray will be added to one pdf file. But every time that you push the Start button, a new job is created and sent.
- There is no obvious signal indicating that the job is done. It just scans and sends it.
- Make sure that you return the copier to Copy mode for the next user.
WARNING: IT IS POSSIBLE THAT YOUR SCAN JOB WILL END UP IN YOUR JUNK FOLDER, but with our new filter, it works for me!
To change your scanned document to a word processor document, check out OCR.
