The elementary summer school program provides intensive, direct instruction to students who are functioning at least one year below grade level in Reading, Writing or Math and who attended kindergarten through sixth grades in the 2008-2009 school year.
Students who have scored 350 or “below proficient” or “far below proficient” on the state SBA’s qualify as do students whose Terra Nova score are between the 1st and 30th % rank. Also, students who are considered “not proficient” in reading as measured by the DRA are eligible. A classroom teacher recommendation is required as a part of the summer school application.
