There has been some debate in recent months about how to resolve the overcrowding situation at Chugiak High School. Chugiak is currently 20% over capacity and even if a new high school is built, the overcrowding situation would still have to be dealt with while the school is under construction. I am going to read you a number of potential ways for the overcrowding at Chugiak to be alleviated. Making Mirror Lake Middle School and Gruening Middle School inclusive of 9th grade, thus converting Chugiak to a 10th , 11th and 12th grade high school:
Continuing to use portable classrooms:
Double shifting, where half of Chugiak’s students would attend school from 6.30am to 12.30pm and the other half from 12.30pm to 6.30pm:
