Our K-6 school is centrally located on JBER (Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson).  Ursa Major is accessed from the Fort Richardson gate. It is easily located on Dyea Avenue, which is the first left turn as you enter the base. Ursa Major is proud of its four special education preschool classes, and its eighteen classes comprising Kindergarten through Sixth grade students. The majority of our students are dependents of military personnel. We support our military families through a rigorous curriculum and a variety of before and afterschool activities. All families are encouraged to be involved with their child’s education through our very supportive P.T.A., Parent Teacher Association. We additionally offer our student’s bilingual tutoring, special education resource, gifted, speech-language and counseling. Our enthusiastic staff offer many opportunities for students to show what they know using Common Core State Standards to ensure all students are learning at the pace they need to succeed each year they are with Ursa Major.
