    Back to school BBQ:  On an evening in August at the Chugach playground

    -This event allows children to meet their teacher and for families to come together to celebrate the upcoming school year.

     

    Fall Carnival:  Saturday, October 12 5:30-8:00pm at Chugach gym

    -This family event features booths sponsored from each class, featuring games and kid-centered activities.  A moderate per/child or family fee is charged to cover expenses with the option for food to be covered.  This is parent-led activity that the teacher and committee members help parent volunteers coordinate.   

     

    Auction:  Friday, November 8 from 6:00-10:00pm at 49th State Brewing Co.

    -This is the school's largest fundraiser.  Tickets are sold so staff and parents can come together for an evening out.  Children in each classroom create items for sale or a collected item from the class.  Parents and community members are able to donate items, services and gift certificates to sell at the school auction.  Bidding is on both silent and live auction items and for those who are unable to attend, on-line bidders can participate in bidding remotely.

     

    Barnes & Noble Book Fair:  Friday, December 13. Choir performance at Barnes & Noble after school.

    -Book fairs are an opportunity to not only stock up on books for your child(ren), but also to help stock teachers' classroom libraries from their book wish list.  This is a school fund-raiser where money is raised from both in-store sales (including the cafe) as well as on-line purchases.  Share the date and special school code with your family and friends.  Chugach choir members will also perform a holiday concert at Barnes & Noble.

     

    School Dance:  Friday, January 17 in the evening (time tbd) at Chugach gym

    -This is a family dance and is held at the school.  Dance with your child(ren) and Chugach friends to the beat of DJ Spencer.  This event is funded by our Community Assembly.

     

    Art Night:  Friday, February 28 at the Chugach gym

    -Children in each classroom create items for sale or a collected item from the class.  Parents and community members are able to donate items to sell at Art Night.  

     

    Family Science Share Night:  On a March evening at Chugach

    -Kids from kindergarten to sixth grade are able to participate in our non-competitive science share event.  Kids pick a topic they are curious about, ask a question about it, make a hypothesis, conduct an experiment providing quantitative data and document it on a poster board.  Kids present their information to parent volunteer experts at this family-centered event.  There is a scavenger hunt for kids of all ages.  Guest speakers share scientific data and food is available for purchase.

     

    Barnes & Noble Book Fair:  Friday, April 17.  African drumming performance at Barnes & Noble after early release

    -Our spring book fair is again hosted at Barnes & Noble.  A percentage of all sales go to the school.  Again, this is a great opportunity to stock up on books for your child(ren), and also to help stock teachers' classroom libraries from their book wish list.  This is a school fund-raiser where money is raised from both in-store sales (including the cafe) as well as on-line purchases.  Share the date and special school code with your family and friends.  The Chugach African drummers will perform a concert at Barnes & Noble.

     

    Spring Fling:  Tentative Date - Friday, April 17 from 5:30-8:30pm at Chugach gym

    -This is our school talent show.  Kids can perform individually or as part of a group. Acts are a variety of venues:  singing, dancing, instrumental performances, magic show, etc.  It's a fun way for children to shine outside the classroom environment at this fun, family event.  Pot luck dinner is available.    

     

    Mini-Courses:  Whole day during school - date tbd

    -This is a parent-led event, where parents are the teachers to our kids for the day.  You can volunteer to share your hobbies, skills and interests with kids.  Parents can lead a group of children for a half-day event or a whole day. There are so many opportunities for how parents can guide kids in crafts, art, hands-on projects, science experiments, engage kids in sports or board games, etc.

     

    Parent Volunteer Celebration:  Time and date tbd

    -We appreciate our volunteers who support our teachers with your time and hard work!   Your efforts allow our teachers to go above and beyond the standard curriculum.  This day celebrates you:  thanks for all you do!  Join us for coffee, breakfast treats and conversation.  Kids play on playground with school supervision.  Coffee generously provided by Kaladi Brothers.
