From the Principal
Hello O’Malley Families!
As we begin our 19-20 school year we have lots of information to share. Please take a few minutes to read through, and if you have questions we’re happy to help!
Class Lists and Teacher Assignments:
On Saturday, August 17th, you will receive a welcome letter from your child’s teacher (with name and photo) through the ASD communication system. Based on current enrollment numbers, and district teacher allocation, it is possible your child will be placed in a multi-age (combination) classroom. Please know that considerable care and effort has been made to place your child in the best educational environment, all placement decisions are final as we balance the needs of all our O’Malley students.
First Day of School
All classes will meet on the blacktop behind the school. Teachers will be waiting with signs so students know where to lineup. The first bell rings at 8:50, please have students in line by that time. All teachers will be outside to greet students.
School begins for students in grades 1-6 on Tuesday, August 20th. Kindergarten begins Tuesday, August 27th. Kindergarten teachers will contact parents with information on your child’s beginning of the year conference. Supply lists are on our front door and on O’Malley Facebook page.
Morning Drop Off and Afternoon Pick Up:
Please use our large drop off/pick up loop around the hockey rink which is supervised, fast and efficient. Morning drop off and supervision begins at 8:40 a.m. School hours are 9:00 – 3:30. Students need to be seated and ready to learn at 9 a.m.
Due to safety concerns drop offs/pickups at the front door are not allowed. It is very congested, and students have darted into traffic, when unaccompanied. Yikes! You are welcome to park in the front parking lot and walk your child into the building at 8:50, or to their line up at 8:50, and then pick them up at the bottom of the stairs in the afternoon if using the front parking lot.
We will host our Open House on Thursday, August 29th from 6-7:30. This will be your opportunity to meet teachers, hear about grade level expectations, educational standards and what your child/ren will be learning this year. We believe parents are our partners and are looking forward to working with you!
This year we are continuing our cashless procedures for field trips, lost library material, lunch tickets all through your Q account using the Parent Connect. Super-fast and easy!
Thank you for your time and attention! We look forward to a wonderful year and helping your child learn, grow, and reach their full potential, we’ll see you soon!
