Will the Health and Safety protocols be different?
In an effort to ensure health and safety of students and staff while providing special education and related services, ASD is implementing protocols for safety and cleanliness that will be followed by all staff and students, including students who have higher-level protocols for personal care.
Will Special Education services be different?
Consistent with the District’s School Start Risk Level Response Plan, special education and related services will be provided based on your student’s IEP either in person or virtually. The District will focus on meeting identified needs in the IEP with special emphasis on the goals and objectives. Teams will be working with families to develop a Continuous Learning Plan to address your student’s needs at each risk level.
How will evaluations and assessments occur?
During Low and Medium Risk levels, teams will work to complete all open and outstanding evaluations first. All initial and re-evaluations for eligibility for special education will be conducted in person, utilizing established safety protocols, in an effort to adhere to all federal and state special education guidelines.
During the High-Risk level, staff will follow all municipal and state health mandates in determining whether and how evaluations may continue.
How will IEP and 504 meetings occur?
All IEP and 504 meetings will be held via Zoom or telephone. If needed, while we are in Low or Medium Risk levels, these meetings can be scheduled in person following all social distancing guidelines. Staff will reach out to you to determine the best mode of communication for your family.
