Updates to Meal Service Procedures Beginning January 19

    Beginning Jan. 19, the Anchorage School District’s Student Nutrition Department will begin providing meals to students attending in-person instruction. Elementary students who are present in a school that has a meal service will receive a breakfast* and a hot lunch every day. Middle and High school students who are participating in small group in-school tutoring programs will receive a breakfast and a ready-to-eat cold lunch each day. Students attending in-person instruction need not pre-order meals.

     

    Students who are not yet back in in-person instruction, and who are enrolled in National School Lunch Program (NSLP) participating schools** may obtain meal bundles consisting of several days’ worth of breakfast and lunch from various distribution sites on Tuesday and Friday. Students will receive a three-meal pack on Tuesdays and a two-meal pack on Fridays***. Students who receive meal bundles from distribution sites must pre-order using the PayPams.com website process.

     

    All meals provided to eligible students at all NSLP schools are free of charge, regardless of Free and Reduced Meal program status.

     

    * Due to staffing limitations, schools that did not previously have a breakfast program are unable to offer breakfast service. Schools offering breakfast available here.

    ***Student Nutrition’s ability to open and sustain schools is dependent on staff availability due to COVID-19. In the event that low staffing levels prevent opening all food service facilities, Student Nutrition will prioritize and reallocate nutrition staff to Title 1 and Community Eligible Schools (CEP) as necessary.

     

    Distribution Sites

    The following locations will be open for meal pick-up beginning Jan. 19. Times for meal distribution are 10 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at secondary schools and 12-2 p.m. at elementary schools on Tuesday and Friday. Parents must pre-order meal bundles when picking up from distribution sites.
