This year, our goal is to distribute 5,000 backpacks filled with school supplies to ASD students on July 31st at Begich Middle School.

Our District is projecting a deficit of more than $90 million for next school year, FY2026–27. It’s the cumulative effect of underfunding and growing pressure on local, state and federal revenue sources. 

Rightsizing

The Anchorage School District (ASD) is initiating the Rightsizing ASD initiative due to pressing needs and changing community dynamics.

The Anchorage School District is expanding preschool and early learning options thanks to powerful community partnerships.

With support from the Anchorage Child Care and Early Education Fund, unused classrooms are becoming places where preschool children learn, grow and get ready for what’s next, including new full-day options at select schools to support working families.
