An annual survey is required by the Anchorage School District and is part of the ASD comprehensive assessment system.

Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS)

A biennial survey required by the Anchorage School District and is supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Alaska Departments of Education and Early Development and Health and Social Services.


 Purpose AdministrationWindow
  • The YRBS collects information about the health of Alaska adolescents including health-risk behaviors that contribute to death, disability, and social problems.
  • The YRBS provides state and local data that are used to monitor health risk behaviors over time, identify emerging issues, and measure progress toward health goals.
  • The district, schools and community organizations use data for planning and evaluation, school health policy development, grant writing, health promotion and disease prevention.
