Journeyworkers

Apply to be a Journeyworker!

Share the Joy: Become a Journeyworker Teacher and Inspire the Next Generation of Teachers

Every job has its ups and downs, but not everyone gets the chance to change a life. The Anchorage School District (ASD) Teacher Apprenticeship Program (TAP) will launch in January 2026 and ASD is looking for experienced teachers who are ready to guide, coach, and inspire apprentices on their pathway to becoming a teacher. Our initial cohort of apprentices will be current ASD paraprofessionals who have a very strong desire to be a teacher and need a strong mentor, Jorneyworker teacher.

Do you:

  • Love teaching?

  • Value collaboration?

  • Take pride in helping others grow?

Yes?! Then ASD strongly encourages you to apply to become a Journeyworker Teacher.

The Journeyworker Teacher will play a vital role in mentoring aspiring teachers as they complete their apprenticeship and work toward a bachelor’s degree and teacher licensure. You’ll model the craft of teaching, provide structured feedback, and help apprentices grow into confident, classroom-ready professionals.
