Elementary Gifted Programs

Highly Gifted Program (HG):

The elementary Highly Gifted Program is designed to meet the educational needs of those students identified as highly-gifted who require academic acceleration and enrichment beyond what can be provided in a standard school environment. It is designed to allow for student interactions with grade level peers who share similar educational needs. 

The Highly Gifted Program is based at Rogers Park Elementary and currently serves approximately 150 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It strives to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of identified highly gifted students in a self-contained classroom environment. 

In order to qualify for Elementary Highly Gifted, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Reading Achievement: Students must receive a reading achievement score at or above the 96th percentile.
  • Verbal Ability: Students must receive a verbal or verbal composite ability score at or above the 98th percentile. 
  • Math Achievement or Ability: Students must receive a math achievement or math ability score at or above the 50th percentile.
