Audits and Financial Reports
ASD participates in annual, independent financial reviews.
- Annual financial audit reviewed by an independent third party
- 2–3 municipal audits each year reviewing controls and compliance
- Operational audits requested by the School Board and conducted by outside experts
All audit results are shared publicly and reviewed in open meetings.
ASD’s history of rigorous financial and operational controls, has been recognized with a Certificate of Excellence by the International Association of School Business Officials for the last 40 years.
Annual Financial Audits
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) includes financial statements that have been audited by an independent firm of certified public accountants.
Municipality of Anchorage Audits
Municipal auditors independently review selected ASD areas of internal controls and compliance with policies and procedures.
Operational Audits
The School Board’s Governance Committee may request operational audits by the Council of the Great City Schools and other independent experts.
