The major roles and functions of the ASD school psychologist include:

ASD School Psychologists are guided in their profession through the Principles for Professional Ethics and the Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services (NASP Practice Model) developed by the National Association of School Psychologists. 

• To facilitate student learning and adjustment through collaborative problem solving and consultation with teachers, students, and parents;

• To provide accurate, timely and comprehensive evaluations for students experiencing significant academic, behavioral, and/or social-emotional challenges and to support eligibility determination for special education services;

• To carry out short-term, solution-focused direct intervention (including counseling and skills-based group instruction) when needed;
