Special Education Extended School Year (ESY)
ESY is an annual IEP team decision. IEP teams make ESY determinations based on the unique needs of each student. ESY services could be provided in a site-based model, as itinerant services, or other individualized frequency and duration of services.
Transportation and meals are provided for ESY. Class assignments and transportation details (bus routes, pick-up times, etc.) are finalized the week before the ESY session starts.
2025 ESY Site-Based Model (Grades K-12 and Transition Age):
For K-12 and Transition age students whose IEP team determines ESY through a Site-Based model, ESY is offered 3 days a week (Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday) for 4 weeks in June:
- June 3, 4, 5
- June 10, 11, 12
- June 17, 18 (There will be no ESY on June 19 in observance of Juneteenth)
- June 24, 25, 26
Program Time: 8:30 am - 1:30 pm

Itinerant Services
For K-12 and Transition age students whose IEP team determines ESY through an Itinerant model, their summer ESY provider will reach out to your family to schedule the ESY services.

CTE Summer Career Exploration Camp
The CTE Career Exploration Summer School Program is designed to provide incoming 9th graders the opportunity to explore up to 6 different career fields of interest. Students will participate in career and education planning while attending hands-on career exploration classes and will receive 0.5 high school credits on their transcript for the successful completion of the program.
**Please consider the effect this non-weighted grade will have on class rank before registering.**

TENTATIVE 2026 CTE Summer Career Exploration Information:
Explore up to six different career fields in the following options:
- Arts, A/V & Communication
- Business Management
- Architecture & Construction
- Cosmetology
- Culinary
- Health Science
- Human & Community Service
- Information Technology & Computer Science
- Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM)
*Students are asked to choose 3 pathways when they apply, and we will do our best to honor the request. However, it might not be possible to honor all requests, and it is often beneficial for students to experience something that is not what they think is suitable or interesting for them.
*These classes are not intended to let students deep dive into skills and trades, but rather open up their eyes to different career fields with lots of hands-on experience.

Registration Requirements:
Students must be out-going 8th grader / incoming 9th graders currently enrolled in an ASD school for the 2025-26 school year with the intent of coming back in Fall 2026.
Students must attend the full 2 weeks to be eligible. Students must abide by all school district policies.

Session Dates:
Session 1 - May 26 - June 5, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm (no class on Monday, May 25)
Session 2 - June 8 - June 18, 8:30 am - 3:00 pm (no class on Wednesday, June 19)
*PLEASE NOTE: The schedule is subject to change due to additional snow days and other considerations.

Location, Transportation and Food:
King Tech High School (2650 E. Northern Lights Blvd)
Shelf-stable breakfast available on request, and lunch will be provided.
The registration for 2026 is currently scheduled to open in March.
21st CCLC Summer Enrichment Program
The 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) programs are excited to collaborate and offer a Summer Enrichment Program for students entering grades 1-7. This program is designed to extend learning during the summer months, providing positive and enriching experiences for our students. We will offer a variety of enrichment activities focusing on physical activity, social-emotional learning (SEL), and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
Grade Level: 1-7
Location: Lake Otis Elementary
Session 1: June 1st through 26th with no program on the 19th. Our student hours are 9:30am-3:30pm.

This program is for CURRENT Elementary and Middle School students enrolled in the Indigenous Education program.
This year’s theme is Salmon Streams and Strength. We will learn about salmon, the streams that help them thrive and reflect on the similarities in the strengths we share.
Please note that Week 1 of Session II will operate Mon, Tues, Wed.
While all other weeks of the program will be Monday-Thursday.

Welcome to ELL Newcomer Summer Academy!
Elementary program

Program Description:
The ELL Newcomer Summer Program for K-5 will focus on English Language Development, beginning reading instruction, the language of math, and will incorporate the theme of Welcome to Anchorage / Welcome to Alaska. Instruction will use the classroom model and include hands-on activities, art, and writing as a means to learn and practice social and academic English.
This program helps students who are new to the country and learning English. It focuses on building their language skills so they can better understand their school subjects and feel more confident in the classroom when school starts in the fall.

Program Description:
The ELL Newcomer Summer Program for K-8 will focus on English Language Development, foundational literacy instruction, the language of math, and a theme of Welcome to Anchorage / Welcome to Alaska. Instruction be delivered through a class rotation and will focus on building academic language through the development of skills and content knowledge in reading, writing, social studies and math in order to be ready for core instruction for the next school year.
