On Feb. 24, 2026, The Anchorage School Board approved an updated Rightsizing plan to close, consolidate and implement efficiencies at several schools. The changes will take effect at the end of the current 2025-26 school year.

Building Closures and Repurposing
- Close Fire Lake Elementary School. Offer building to Eagle Academy Charter School.
- Close Lake Otis Elementary School. Offer building to Rilke Schule German Immersion School.
- Close Campbell STEM Elementary School.
- Upon relocation of Rilke Schule, the old Abbott Loop Elementary School building and Campbell STEM Elementary School building will be marked as excess to the District’s needs and returned to the Municipality of Anchorage.
Consolidations and Efficiencies
- Relocate the Tudor Elementary School’s Montessori program to Denali Montessori.
- Move non-immersion students at O’Malley Elementary School to Huffman Elementary School. O’Malley will become an alternative French immersion school.
- Move the non-immersion students at Government Hill Elementary School to Inlet View Elementary School. Government Hill will become an alternative Spanish immersion school.
- Move the Outreach program, currently located at Whaley to Benny Benson and SAVE Alternative schools.
