College Gate Yup'ik Immersion Program Honored by Alaska Legislature

College Gate staff and students get recognized by the Alaska Legislature

  • The Yup’ik Immersion Program at College Gate Elementary opened its doors on August 27, 2018.
  • The program’s inception came from a federal grant, the Native American Languages Program, from the United States Department of Education.
  • The Anchorage School District is excited to offer an Alaska Native language immersion program, one of the only public-school indigenous language immersion programs in urban settings nationwide.
  • We are pleased to announce that the College Gate Yup’ik Immersion Program has received legislative honors for their excellence in teaching and preserving the Yup’ik language and culture in Alaska.
