The application period for students interested in Gifted Mentorships for the 2019-20 school year is open and the deadline to apply is April 26 at 3 p.m.
The Gifted Mentorship Program is designed for the exceptional 11th and 12th grade high school student who has the self-discipline and interest to pursue an independent study under the direction of a professional in a field of great interest to the student. The mentorship is modeled after a college-level internship, where students will be paired with a professional or expert in the area of career interest. The program is designed to immerse students into the real world of their selected area of advanced learning. Students will observe, talk with, and work closely with a person in the field they select. Past mentorships include various medical fields, engineering, architecture, astronomy, education, environmental science, physics, finance, business, journalism, government, media production, public relations, veterinary medicine, web design, theater production, culinary arts and more. You can find more information at their website - https://www.asdk12.org/giftedmentorship.
There will be another opportunity for students to apply in the fall, from August 15 until September 6.
