AMCS Principal Message

August 21, 2020

Greetings Alaska Middle College Students and Families,

I am Dr. McGinley the principal of the Alaska Middle College School. We are looking forward to connecting with you Monday (August 24) for your first day of advisories and college courses. Our advisory courses are unique and an important component of AMCS, and you will find that the advisory will prepare you for long term college success. The talented AMCS staff are excited to meet with you throughout the semester via zoom.

To get yourself setup for classes on Monday (August 24, 2020), please take a few moments and access your Q student/parent account to verify that your classes are scheduled. Then, go back out to the ASD webpage and go to students, click onto “Clever” and use your student logon credentials to access the Apps page where you will find Canvas. Please click onto canvas and look for your courses.

We are running a 4-day advisory schedule. The 4 days of advisory are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Fridays are set aside for additional learning opportunities related to college success and advisory make-up. Teachers will host advisory zoom meetings at the scheduled class time and student attendance is required.

For more detailed information regarding start-up, please review the “AMCS FasTracks” document found in your email. This information is also posted on the AMCS website.

If you do not see your courses or something is missing, please contact the main office line at 742-8900 and leave a message. We are experiencing a heavy call volume and we will do our best to return your call in a timely manner. We greatly appreciate your patience.

Once again, welcome to the Alaska Middle College School. You made a great choice and we are so pleased that you are taking your educational journey with us!

Dr. McGinley
