AMCS Information Nights
ASD Juniors, Seniors, and Parents:
Do you desire to have a flexible high school schedule this spring semester while still pursuing rigorous courses? Are you a senior who is ready to graduate from high school and who wants to attend college? The Alaska Middle College School (AMCS) program may be for you. The program offers flexible schedules, independence, and transferability of college credits to other higher education institutions. AMCS program is for socially and academically prepared students seeking an academic challenge or who want to begin their post-secondary pursuits while completing their high school graduation requirements.
AMCS offers two types of tracks to students:
Degree: Offers access to courses that lead to an associate of arts, an associate of applied arts, or a bachelor’s degree.
- Participates fully in AMCS, no classes at home high school
- Enrolls in college courses up to 4 or 5
- Attend two advisories (academic support for writing and math)
Certificate: Offers access to health programs that can lead to certifications or occupational endorsement certificates in Certified Nurses Aide, Medical Office Coding, Medical Assisting, and Dental Assisting.
- Participate half day at home high school (3 courses)/semester
- Enrolls in 1 or 2 college courses
- Attend advisory (academic support course)
