Welcome back - 2nd Semester
January 08, 2023
Happy New Year King Tech Students and Families!
I hope you had a wonderful break and are ready to return to King Tech High School.
I wanted to bring to your attention some second semester start-up information.
Part-time students, when you arrive tomorrow (1/9), you class will be posted beside your name on a spreadsheet located by student services and in the West Hallway near the bus drop off entrance.
Full-time students will receive a paper copy of their schedule in 1st and 3rd period.
Full-time students with only 1 or with 2 CTE classes (and no academic classes), will not receive a paper schedule unless they drop by student services.
For the first three days of the semester, we will not be accepting drop/add requests. Drop/add requests will be accepted starting on Thursday, January 12. Announcements will be made regarding the process for submitting a drop add request.
Starting January 30 through March 09, we will be operating on an extended and modified schedule to make up time lost during the December school closure days. More details will be sent out to you in the next couple of weeks.
New for this semester -- We are excited to launch our school-wide focus on Professionalism. As you know, King Tech has strong relationships with employers throughout our community. We have heard time and again from employers that professional skills are more sought after than hands-on skills related to industry. Thus, we have developed a school-wide approach to helping our students develop and recognize the importance of professionalism. Your instructors will be spending time this week going over the professional skills expectations that are in place for all students who attend King Tech High school.
Our mission is to prepare all students for the workforce and post-secondary education. Thus, by incorporating professionalism standards we are fulfilling our mission!
I am excited by what this semester will bring. The King Tech Staff will be working hard to help you develop and connect with a plan for your future. Our motto is finding and funding your future at King Tech!
I am honored to serve as your principal. I believe King Tech holds the keys to your future. Our staff delivers the best career and technical education in the State of Alaska. We take great pride in what we do and what we offer to you. Please reach out to us we are here to help you launch career opportunities!
