Rilke Schule's New Principal: Bryan Bearss

Dear Rilke Schule Community,

We are proud to announce that Bryan Bearss has accepted the position of Rilke Schule principal. Many in our community will recognize Herr Bearss from his two years as a first grade teacher at Rilke Schule and nine years total in the Anchorage School District (2008-2017). In addition to teaching at Rilke Schule, Herr Bearss had also assumed an expanded administrative role at Rilke Schule helping to run the day-to-day school operation during his tenure with our school. The search committee unanimously recommended Bryan Bearss for this post, after thorough vetting and interviews with several qualified candidates.

Since leaving Alaska for Michigan in 2017, Herr Bearss has taught in public school elementary classrooms and spent the last year as a K-7 Physical Education teacher in Roscommon, Michigan. He has also recently served as a member of the Student Support Team, as well as the Instructional Team there.

Herr Bearss holds a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Education from Northland College, a teacher's certification in elementary education from Alaska Pacific University, as well as a master's degree in education leadership from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

In the coming weeks, Herr Bearss will transition back to Alaska from Michigan.  An avid outdoor enthusiast and a committed lifelong learner himself, Herr Bearss is looking forward to returning to Alaska, and to Rilke Schule.

Please join all of us on the APC in welcoming Bryan Bearss back to our Rilke Schule community!

Sincerely,
James Wileman
