New Safety Measures at Goldenview

At Goldenview Middle School, safety remains our top priority, and I am thrilled to share some updates on the steps we’ve taken to enhance the security of our campus.

New Safety Measures
Over the break, we successfully installed several new systems designed to strengthen the safety and security of our school community:

Front Door Video Buzzer System: Similar to those used in other ASD schools, this system ensures that after the first bell, the front doors will be locked. Visitors will need to use the buzzer system, and access will only be granted after a Goldenview staff member confirms the visitor’s purpose. Only the far left door at the front entrance serves as the controlled point of entry. Signage is posted.

ASD Raptor Visitor System: All visitors must now present a government-issued ID, which will be scanned and vetted against approved databases. This ensures that visitors meet district standards and are not flagged as known offenders, creating a safer environment for everyone on campus. Visitors will then be issued a badge that is to be worn.

Upgraded Fire and Emergency Response System: Our state-of-the-art fire system has been installed and now includes features that allow us to lock down classroom hallways if needed during unsafe situations or medical emergencies.

Mobile Metal Detector Trials: In the coming weeks, ASD’s Safety and Security Team will conduct a trial of the new mobile metal detectors at our school. These systems, part of ASD's Mobile Response Team, are a proactive measure designed to address any safety concerns swiftly and effectively. Moving forward, these detectors will be randomly implemented across the district. These systems will be deployed intermittently.

Community Awareness
We’ve also received feedback from homeowners on Bridgeview regarding vehicles blocking roadways and students crossing traffic in unsafe ways. Please help us address these concerns by encouraging safe driving and ensuring students use designated crosswalks.
