April 12th

  • Calling all artists! The annual CHS Art Show will run from April 24th-May 1st. Bring your art to the library by Monday, April 22nd—winners of the juried art competition will receive prizes!
  • Seniors! Today is the last day to submit suggestions for your class motto, song, and student and faculty speakers. Scan the QR code found on posters in the hallways to submit your ideas!
  • Friday, April 12th is traditionally the Day of Silence. Recently GLSEN, a national organization, has changed their approach for advocacy and outreach by changing this day to speaking out and taking action. However, Chugiak's GSA has decided to take action and still honoring this day by having a 2-day awareness campaign at the four-way hall, up from the ramp.  Chugiak's Gender Sexuality Alliance is still of the mind that practicing silence will show solidarity with those students who have felt stifled by society regarding their identity and sexuality. Friday April 12th is the specific day students may truly want to demonstrate their tradition of remaining silent, in order to honor this history and specifically those LGBTQ+ students who were silenced by the cruelty of bullying and harassment.
  • PROM GOERS! Don't forget that all fines and fees must be paid in order to buy a prom ticket. Juniors and Seniors, please visit Ms. Prince ASAP to pay your fines and fees if you plan to attend prom. Sophomores and Freshmen who are going as the guest of an upperclassmen must also have no fines or fees to have a ticket purchased for them. If you aren't sure if you owe, visit Ms. Handeland in room 204, or Ms. Prince before or after school. You can also check with the ticket sales staff in the student store at lunch. No tickets will be sold at the door. The last chance to buy tickets will be at lunch on Friday.
  • On Monday, April 15th, we will be honoring the children of military families by wearing purple and serving cake in the student union at lunch. Wear your favorite purple gear and get a slice of cake.
