O'Malley Recognized by the French Government

French TeacherO’Malley Elementary School’s French Immersion Program hosted a celebratory welcome potluck for its two new French immersion teachers and two new French teaching interns. The event was co-hosted by FLAA (French Language Advocates Anchorage), the French immersion parent organization.
At this event, O’Malley’s French Immersion Program was recognized by the French government by being awarded the LabelFranEducation by Alaska’s Honorary Consul of France, Sonia Lelarge. This special designation is awarded to exemplar French language immersion programs.
Issued by the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) for a maximum period of three years (renewable), the LabelFrancÉducation aims to promote public or private sectors or establishments outside France. It can be issued for elementary and secondary education levels on a foreign curriculum (outside the French curriculum), in general, technological, or professional study courses, which contribute, within the framework of their national education, to the influence of French education, language and culture.
The operational management of the LabelFrancÉducation has been entrusted by the MEAE to the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE). An annual decree from the MEAE establishes the list of certified sectors and certificates are given to the establishments concerned at the end of each campaign.
