DHS Tuesday News Blast 11/22/21

Dear Dimond Families,

Happy Thanksgiving!  We wish you and your family an enjoyable and relaxing holiday.  When we return there will be three weeks remaining in the semester.  Please continue to encourage your student to stay on top of classwork and finish the semester strong.

In planning ahead, please note that final exams will be given on December 15th and 16th.  Please plan for final exams for they will not be given early.  Students who miss finals will be able to take them when we return in January.

CRYSTAL BALL DANCE AND ASSEMBLY:

Due to COVID safety concerns,  the dance and assembly have been canceled.  We will continue with our spirit days, A. J. Dimond Day and recognition of the Crystal Ball court the week of November 29th.

MASK WEARING REMINDER:

We appreciate your efforts in helping to keep Dimond safe. Please continue to encourage your student to maintain proper mask-wearing, wash their hands, and social distance when possible.  Correct mask-wearing always means over the nose and mouth unless eating or drinking.  This is particularly important indoors and in crowded settings when physical distancing cannot be maintained. Students who fail to comply with wearing their mask proper will receive a detention.  It is important that we continue to enforce the district’s universal mask-wearing policy.  The district’s universal policy and proper mask-wearing can be found at https://sites.google.com/asdk12.net/masks/all-about-masks

DRESS CODE & BACKPACKS:

We continue to remind students of the no-head covering policy, dress code, and backpack expectation.  Non-compliance in these areas may result in a consequence.  Specific information can be found on Dimond’s webpage at https://www.asdk12.org/Page/13360.

Promptness:

We realize that weather conditions may impact students’ ability to be on time for school.  However, please help to ensure that your student is on-time.  Leaving earlier and arriving safely to school is important. Promptness to class is expected for every period.  Arriving to class late within 10 minutes is a tardy and students are required to have a late pass.  Multiple tardies result in consequences.  Students who are late miss valuable instruction.

SAFETY REMINDER:

Please feel free to report any reckless driving or unusual behavior in the parking lots. Reports will be referred to APD and students are subject to revocation of parking privileges and APD fines.

7TH PERIOD APEX/CREDIT RECOVERY:

We are still offering a 7th period APEX / Course Recovery class for interested students.  This class is taking place from 2:15-3:15 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays in Room A109.  Interested students should contact their counselor to enroll.

MATH TUTORING AVAILABLE:

We have begun our after-school math tutoring program.   Students can come to B108 after school between 2:15-3:15 on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays to receive math help. We encourage them to bring notes if they have them.
