Update for March 22, 2019
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO) Competitions:
HOSA (Health Occupations Student Association) students in PCA/CNA, Veterinary Assisting & EMT classes all participated in presenting to middle school students at Romig Middle School. Students shared their love of the health related career fields they are in, in an effort to attract those students to health-related career fields.
Additionally, HOSA students from around the state are at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Anchorage competing for state champion titles in EMT, nursing, veterinary and more. Awards ceremony will be at 10AM on Saturday, March 23. Students have practiced for months and participated in qualifying rounds to get to this point. Shout outs to instructors Vanessa Forbes, Adrienne Voss, and Rebecca Giacalone along with all their students. We will list all our national qualifiers next week.
Next week many KTHS students will be competing in Alaska SkillsUSA competitions as well as participating in the conference. Thursday and Friday, March 28 & 29, King Tech will be a hopping place with over 250 students from around the state participating in over 40 categories. Look for pictures on social media next week and join us for the awards ceremony at 10AM Saturday, March 30 at UAA in the Student Union large conference room near the book store. We will list all our national qualifiers next week.
CTSO advisors and students will begin selling raffle tickets in April to raise funds for travel to national competitions. More to come next week. Additionally, they will be making graduation leis which can be pre-ordered starting the first week of April, contact information for preordering will be included in next week’s message.
