Designate your Beneficiaries

BenefitSPotLog into Benefit Spot to designate or re-establish your life insurance beneficiary.

Life insurance is provided for all regular full-time and part-time (15+ hours/week) employees. If you have loved ones who depend on your income for financial support, you are probably aware of the importance of Life and AD&D (Accidental Death & Dismemberment) protection. Life insurance pays your beneficiary a benefit, should you die and AD&D insurance pays a benefit, should your death result from an accident OR if you are severely injured in an accident. Age may affect coverage levels.

We are offering you Basic Life/AD&D insurance through The Hartford. Enrollment is automatic and Anchorage School District pays the full cost for your coverage based on your applicable employee group. You only need to designate a beneficiary during the enrollment process.

With your Anchorage School District benefits, historically your life insurance beneficiary designation was submitted via paper forms.With the recent migration to the online enrollment portal, BenefitSpot, your beneficiary designation must be resubmitted through the online portal. During this year’s Open Enrollment, we encourage you to designate your beneficiaries through the online portal, even if you are not changing your benefits. If you need to adjust your beneficiaries later in the year, log back into the online portal to make a change.The first time you visit the website, you will need to complete a one-time registration to create your personal username and password; thereafter, access directly through SSO or use the login credentials from the website URL (see below). You have two options for accessing the benefits portal:

  • Single sign-on (SSO) when connected to the Anchorage School District network: In Anchorage School District's network, go to "My Apps", click on the BenefitSpot icon; register; select the Benefits Enrollment tile.
  • Access the Anchorage Benefits Portal Directly: Go to https://asdk12.benefitspot.com. register; select the Benefits Enrollment tile.
