A Letter from the Principal: Orion's Status 12/4/18
Dear Orion Families,
As you know on Friday, November 30, 2018, a natural disaster occurred which has had a profound effect on our school community. We hope that your family is safe in the aftermath of this earthquake. The earthquake caused some damage to our school facility that the district has been working hard to fix. This letter is to help you know what is happening at our school. Although we experienced some minor damage, Orion's major damage was in the ceiling of our gym. Work crews and our fabulous janitorial crew members have been working around the clock to get our building inspected, clean and safe to enter. Orion's staff is busy planning and getting classrooms back educationally ready!
On Wednesday, December 5, 2018, Orion will be open from 1pm - 3pm for families to pick up medication or needed student gear. There will be a sign- in process with escort for classroom access.
School is expected to return to normal session on Monday, December 10, 2018. In the meantime, spend time with your child, giving him or her plenty of chances to talk about what happened. Fearfulness may be common as we are experiencing many aftershocks. Staff is aware and prepared to assist your child in feeling safe. In addition, our MFLAC ( military family life counselor) will be on duty Monday to assist students as needed.
Thank you for your support as we work together in the aftermath of this earthquake. Our thoughts are with you!
