Important Graduation Information

Greetings Parents,

 

Graduation is fast approaching, and we are as excited as you are. Here is a list of times, dates, and facts regarding graduation. 

 

  • Graduation is May 14th, 2:00PM, at the Alaska Airlines Center.

    • Parking will be available at 12:00 pm. Please use the main lot or library lot. 

    • Doors for families open at 1:00PM.

    • Inside the arena, no noise makers, large signs, horns, confetti cannons are allowed. Please be respectful of those around you

    • UAA has a new Clear Bag Policy for the Alaska Airlines Center.  Please click on the link https://www.asdk12.org/graduations to be directed to the ASD Graduation Website for more details.
    • Seniors check in at 12:30PM for security check.   Must be checked in before 1:00 pm

    • Make your way to your vehicle immediately following the ceremony and proceed to exit the parking lot.

    • Refrain from tailgating and using the parking lot as a celebration venue - instead, make plans to gather family and friends at home after the ceremony.

    • No tents or barbecuing will be permitted at the venue. No tailgating will be permitted.

    • Refrain from any sort of littering, including confetti, confetti cannons, streamers, silly string, loose candy, etc., as such objects impact birds and the environment.

 


Live Streaming

    • The district will provide live-streaming for all the graduation ceremonies at the Alaska Airlines Center. The link will be available on the district’s graduation webpage. An archived video of the ceremony will also be available on the district graduation webpage in the days following the ceremony. 

  • Graduation Practice & Ticket Distribution is Friday, May 9th, 9:45AM, at Bartlett High School Gym. 

    • All graduates are required to be there. 

    • After graduation practice, students will hand in their chromebooks in exchange for their graduation tickets. 

    • Students who have fees or a missing chromebook should contact school administration regarding how to obtain their tickets. 

  • What should Seniors Wear or Bring?

    • The cap, gown, and tassel are required for graduation, unless you are participating in cultural regalia. Here is information about cultural regalia via the ASD website. Cultural Regalia, click here. 

    • Formal clothing is encouraged under the gown. 

    • Unless participating with Cultural Regalia, caps and gowns are not allowed to be decorated or altered in any way. If this happens, your graduate will be asked to purchase a new set, or they will not be allowed to participate. 

    • No phones are allowed at the graduation event for seniors. All phones will be handed in before the ceremony.

    • Seniors will be asked to avoid bringing purses, backpacks, phones, cameras, valuables, etc. as these items will not be allowed on the floor during the ceremony. All Seniors will be required to clear a security checkpoint before lining up for the procession. Seniors need to check in through the Alaska Airline Center’s aux gym doors starting at 12:30 pm on May 14th for the security screening. 

New UAA policy change that requires attendees at events to carry all belongings in clear plastic bags.
