Upcoming Senior Events!

Dear Parents and Guardians of Seniors--Class of 2019 :

We would like to provide you with the following information about upcoming activities and expectations for CHS Seniors.
The below information and events pertains to students who are actively enrolled in at least one CHS course . Please feel
free to contact Mrs. Allison Susel, CHS Curriculum Principal, if you have any questions. As each event gets closer,
additional information specific to each event will be provided.

SENIOR RECOGNITION NIGHT: Wednesday, April 24 (6:00 PM) CHS Gym
Students who are actively enrolled in at least one CHS course, will be recognized with special awards and local
scholarships will be presented. CHS Honor graduates will receive their gold cords to be worn at commencement.
Invitations will be sent to honorees and their families.

SENIOR FUN DAY: Tuesday, April 30 (7:45 AM) CHS Auxiliary Gym and MAC
Seniors will need to ride the bus to the MAC and have a signed permission form along with money for breakfast, lunch,
and t-shirts (price not set yet). Breakfast starts at 7:45 AM in the CHS auxiliary gym. Parents provide breakfast and
volunteers are needed to make/donate food and to help serve. Contact the Senior sponsors Nicole Smith or Keri
Lierman for more information.

STAFF/STUDENT SOFTBALL GAME: Wednesday, May 1 (2:15 PM to 4:30 PM) Upper Field
This event is sponsored by the CHS Key Club (Mrs. LaRue, advisor) and the date is subject to change.

WDS GRADUATION : Wednesday, May 1 (6 PM to 8 PM) CHS Library

SENIOR STEP DOWN ASSEMBLY : Friday, May 3 (Afternoon Assembly) Main Gym
YEARBOOK DISTRIBUTION : Friday, May 3 (Immediately following the Step Down Assembly)
Pre-ordered 2019 yearbooks will be distributed and extra copies will be available for purchase.

JUNIOR/SENIOR PROM : Saturday, May 4 (8 PM to 11:30 PM) Chugiak High Main Gym
School fines/fees are required to be paid prior to purchasing a Prom ticket.
Advanced Placement (AP) TESTING: May 6 through May 17

SPANISH IMMERSION GRADUATION CEREMONY : Wednesday, May 8 (5:00 PM) Mirror Lake Middle School

SENIOR FINAL EXAMS: Thursday, May 9 (Finals for periods 4-6), Friday, May 10 (Finals for periods 1-3)
LOCKER CLEAN OUT: Thursday, May 9 (after school)
All Senior lockers will be checked by staff after school. Any items remaining in the lockers are subject to disposal
and/or donation to charity.

GRADUATION PRACTICE: Friday, May 10 (11:10 AM) Chugiak High Main Gym
Every graduating Senior is required to attend this rehearsal (including semester graduates who plan to participate).
Seniors are asked to leave campus after practice. They may not return to the main building until after 2 PM. We
ask that Seniors do not plan visits to campus during the school day after May 10; however, if students are involved
in AP testing or wish to pay a fine they should check in at the Attendance Office.

FINES: All fees and fines for Seniors must be paid by Friday, May 10
Students with unpaid fines for library books, textbooks, athletic uniforms, class fees, parking fines, etc. will need to
settle all outstanding accounts (cash or check only when paying in person) . Questions may be directed to Valarie
Prince at 742-3084.

GRADUATION: Wednesday, May 15 (7 PM) Sullivan Arena
Seniors should park in the Ben Boeke lot and enter using the Southeast doors. All Seniors will be required to clear a
security checkpoint before lining up for the processional. Seniors are asked to avoid bringing purses, backpacks,
cameras, valuables, etc.
Seniors will be instructed to dress appropriately for the ceremony. Men should wear nice dress pants and light
colored shirts with a tie. Women are requested to wear nice dresses or blouses and skirts that do not extend below
the gown. We also request appropriate shoes that allow easy navigation of the Sullivan Arena staircases.
All graduating Seniors who plan to participate in the commencement ceremony are required to wear a cap/tassel
and gown with a Class of 2019 Stoll. Josten’s distributes these at school. If you have any questions about an order,
please contact Mr. Scott Brown with Josten’s.
The following items are not permitted for Seniors at the Graduation ceremony: latex or helium balloons, hats, wigs,
funny glasses, bubbles, beach balls, silly string, signs, noise makers, or any items that would detract from this formal

Entry for the general public is via the Northwest doors and tickets are not required. A professional photographer
will be present to take a picture of your son or daughter receiving a diploma. Seniors will receive further
information about ordering pictures at Graduation practice.
Live streaming of the ceremony will be available at the following website:
You may present flowers, leis or a corsage to your Senior after the completion of the ceremony. Graduates will
proceed directly back to their seats after receiving their diploma. Family and friends will be able to connect with
Graduates after the tossing of their caps, as that marks the conclusion of the ceremony.
