I want to express my sincere gratitude for all the support helping our students on Friday. The Klatt staff quickly got things ready for students as they began coming to school. Parents began arriving soon after the earthquake and calmly checked students out. Our bus drivers provided a safe and calm environment for students to wait until parents were available to pick students up. We have a wonderful community that is always ready to support our students.
Beginning tomorrow December 4th, teachers, staff, and myself will be entering Klatt to assess the damage to classrooms. Our first steps will be to inventory any damage and prepare for students returning on Monday. All accounts from our maintenance and operations crews show our school is in pretty good shape. As we begin to conduct our review of any damage to the school I will be sure to reach to our PTA if we are in need of help. Please stay tuned to the Klatt website for more information: www.asdk12.org/Klatt. Our district website also has a wealth of information about this earthquake: www.asdk12.org. Below is information about school lunches being offered around Anchorage.
ASD Student Nutrition will provide free food service for any child 18 years of age or younger at the below listed locations from 11-3 starting Tuesday through Friday. There will be buses on location for anyone who’d like to eat inside. Times may shift a little on Friday to accommodate for deliveries needed to make for resumption of school on Monday.
