Northwood Elementary, along with many other schools, is a part of a pilot program to increase activity during the school day. Students have 35 minutes outside at recess every day. They also have an additional time during the day while at PE, music, art, health, or with their classroom teacher. Along with increasing the movement of students, we are providing more time for students to sit and eat with their peers. Students have 25 minutes to get their lunches and sit and eat with their friends. This is exciting and allows students time to eat and not feel rushed. By being a part of the pilot we will be collecting data during meal times as well as recess to see if it is beneficial to student learning.
