Dec. 4: Eagle River Elementary Update

Dear ASD Families, Staff, and Community Members,

I wanted to let you know that our current assessment of Eagle River Elementary School (ERES) indicates a level of damage which requires a relocation of students of ERES to Homestead Elementary and Birchwood Elementary. The details are being finalized and we will continue to provide updates as new information is available. While we understand how unsettling relocation can be, we believe in this case it is paramount to keep our students and staff safe.

Many community members and organizations have asked about volunteering to help get schools back up and running. Interested parents are encouraged to contact their school principal directly. Organizations or others may call Paula Perry-Edwards, our volunteer coordinator, at 742-4418. She will coordinate volunteer requests with schools seeking additional assistance.

As news about our schools across the city is shared, we again want you to know that we are continuing to work through all of the safety issues related to earthquake damage. Each school site is unique in its road to recovery. Please regularly check the District website (Hot Topics) and your school’s website for current information.

Thank you for your assistance and patience as we are moving forward. The positive support of our staff and community has been tremendous.

Sincerely,

Dr. Deena Bishop

ASD Superintendent
