• What's Howling at Trailside?

    From the Principal

    December 1, 2022

    Dear Trailside Families,
It is hard to believe we are in the final month of 2022.  We are almost done with the second quarter of the school year.  During the month of December, we are completing our winter MAP assessment for grades 3-6 and our FastBridge testing for students in grades K-3.  These are the assessments that help us to determine if students are making adequate progress.  These tests are given three times a year to see how students are progressing.
A large part of students making adequate growth is attendance in school.  Please make sure that your children are in school UNLESS they are ill.  The goal for each student is to be in school 90% of the school year.  That means students can only miss approximately 17 days of the entire year to reach this goal.  A high attendance rate is important because students are more likely to succeed in academic and social skills when they attend school consistently.  It is difficult for the teacher and the class to build their skills and progress if a large number of students are frequently absent.
It is exciting that the buses are all back up and running full time.  No more cohort model.  A message was sent out to families from transportation explaining the changes, so please look for that if you missed it.
In December there will be many activities happening in the school.
*December 13th at 3:45 PTA meeting
*December 15th and 16th Battle of the Books at Trailside
*Last day of the quarter is December 21st
Students are off school for the winter break from December 22nd and returning to school on January 9th.  I hope you have an excellent winter break.  Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  We are here to help in any way that we can.
