Curriculum

Birchwood ABC does not use the same curricula as ASD for English language arts and math. We use the Spalding method and materials to teach English language arts. Saxon is used for mathematics. Both curriculums more closely align with the Birchwood ABC content instruction
philosophy.

Academic Content Areas:

1. Language development skills including:reading (stressing phonics) K-3, written and oral English, grammar, spelling, and penmanship
2. Mathematics
3. Social Studies (geography, history, and government)
4. Science

In addition to the core curriculum, library, art, music, health and P.E. will also be provided regularly. The curricular goals of each grade level will reinforce and build upon the previous year's work.

Patriotism and character building are areas that will be integrated into our curriculum and school activities.
