Nursing Support

Birchwood has a full-time nurse on staff to support our student health needs. Please do not send your child to school if s/he has recognizable symptoms of illness, such as a fever, sore throat, vomiting, etc. This will help prevent the spread of illnesses and a parent having to make a special trip to school to take a child back home. If you are unsure if your child is too sick to come to school, feel free to contact our school nurse for support and guidance. Please help us promote a healthy and safe learning environment for all our students.

Please do not request that your child be excused from recess. If a child is well enough to attend school, then s/he will be considered well enough to go outside. A physician’s note is required for a child to be excused from going outside for recess. During extreme inclement weather, -10 below or heavy rain or wind, children will remain indoors.
