mySAEBRS: Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk screener
This year, our school is piloting a Social Academic Emotional Behavior Risk Screener for our school district called my SABERS. Several schools nationwide use this screener, and it will complement identifying support for our students at our school. Over the past four years, our school has used a screener from teachers that identifies student support, and now we are adding another screener that supports students, helping us identify their needs as well. Any data we use at our school gives us one more piece of a puzzle. We always recognize that multiple data points are needed to provide a complete picture.
The use of a universal screener to assess Social, Emotional, and Behavioral needs is a foundational component of a schoolwide multi-tiered system of support. A screener can assist schools in evaluating their implementation of universal support at both the school and grade levels. It can be used for teacher reflection to adjust their classroom management and social and emotional instruction and to identify individual students who may be at risk of needing additional behavioral interventions or support.
The mySAEBRS is a universal screener available in FastBridge. It's a 20-item student rating scale designed for students in grades 2-12. It assesses their social, academic, and emotional behaviors. This tool, which takes about 10 minutes to complete, will be used during district universal benchmark windows (Fall, Winter, and Spring). Research suggests that mySAEBRS can serve as the primary data source for Secondary Schools and as a secondary data source for Elementary Schools.
For the 2024-2025 School year, ASD will provide licensing and collaboration for a few schools to pilot mySAEBRS. Because ASD has determined that active parental permission (signed permission) is necessary, use is being limited to the pilots for 24-25. Attached to this website is a downloadable permission slip that shows all the questions students will be asked. We have also attached a downloadable family informational handout from the company that designed this screener.
