• At Bowman Elementary, Electronic Communication Devices (ECDs) must be put away if students are under the supervision of Bowman staff. Usually, this means by the time students enter the building at 7:40 AM and leave campus at 2:45 PM. Students should have their cell phones put away as well as any other electronic communication devices (ECDs), including but not limited to tablets, iPads, etc. The ability to transmit data on smart watches should be disabled when you arrive at the building until the time you are released to your parents or guardian. This has been a long-standing rule and one that we typically have few issues with.

Due to the age of our elementary students, staff supervise arrival and dismissal for all students. Oftentimes, we have students waiting for an after-school program bus, or a parent may be late. ECDs must be put away because students continue to be under the supervision of Bowman staff, even if transportation pick-up is late. At dismissal, students must:

    • transition to the appropriate pick-up location with a purpose
    • Stay alert and look for their vehicle or bus
    • If your student is a walker, students can access their devices after they have crossed at Rainbow & Chinook or Gregory & Chinook
    • If you're late, students wait in our lobby under the supervision of staff; they cannot be on the playground

It's okay for your child to wait to have their devices until staff can release them to their next location safely and without distractions.
